Course Length:Determined by unit size & complexity (est. 2-3 days)
This workshop is specifically designed to teach operations personnel to apply the K&S 3-step methodology, for troubleshooting and determining root cause of an upset to their specific process. This training will enhance employees understanding of the logic of their specific process, giving them the ability to use multiple data points to evaluate the accuracy of control data. The function of each piece of equipment associated with your specific process is discussed and the control factors for each identified. Practical application of the K&S 3-step troubleshooting method is accomplished by using unit specific problem scenarios ranging from simple to very complex. Specific emphasis is also placed on developing appropriate (safe & economical) corrective action plans that return your process to normal without creating additional problems. Pro-active monitoring and control of your process is also stressed as a way to recognize abnormal conditions early on and prevent losing control of the process. Your operations personnel are more confident and workplace morale is positively impacted as a result of the training.
The pre-selection and involvement of your subject matter expert will ensure your ability to continue this process specific training. The format used to develop and deliver the process specific training allows your company to capture all related data from future upsets and create additional scenarios for on-going internal training. This provides an excellent framework for initial and refresher training for your operations personnel as well as complies with all of the requirements of OSHA’s PSM standard related to training.

Course Development Instructions:
Once your operations personnel have the skills to use the 3-step method taught during the K&S Process Systems Surveillance & Troubleshooting Workshop, the next step in their learning and application of that method is through a Unit Specific Workshop developed using your specific process. During the workshop, we teach the function and control factors for the specific equipment that makes up your process and solve problem scenarios using the K&S 3-step Method. Since operators require troubleshooting practice on events that are as realistic as possible to draw them into the intricate operation of their processes, every scenario created and used is as realistic as possible. All developed scenarios will challenge their knowledge and skills and help them identify opportunities for improvement of the process.
